What Stockbook keeps

Six species — chickens, ducks, quail, goats, sheep and rabbits — kept either as a flock with its count, its place and its breeds, or one by one with tag, breed, sex and birth date. On top of that it keeps what they produce: eggs, milk, meat, wool, honey and fiber; and the incubation and gestation dates of each batch and each mating.

How the egg count works, and how to undo it

On the Today tab, tapping the row of a flock counts one egg. The total for the day sits at the top next to the daily average of the last 7 days. If you tapped by mistake, Undo last removes the last entry — and only the last one, so a correction you make on another screen is not swept away with it. Milk, meat, wool, honey and fiber are written down as an amount with decimals instead of counted by taps.

The incubation and gestation dates are estimates

Enter a batch of eggs or a mating and the app lays out the dates: candling, lockdown, hatch day and the day to clear what did not hatch; pregnancy check, nest box, birth watch and birth. Hen eggs hatch 21 days after going into the incubator, mallard duck eggs at 28 and muscovy at 35; coturnix quail at 17 and bobwhite at 23. A doe rabbit kindles at 31 days, a goat kids at about 150 and a ewe lambs at about 147. Those days come from university extension sources, and the app says on screen that each date is an estimate: temperature moves a hatch, and a birth is not a fixed appointment.

Nothing leaves the phone, and you can still take it with you

There is no account and no server: your records live in this phone's own storage and are never sent anywhere, which is why the app works in the coop with no signal. That does not leave you locked in. Settings → Your data has three buttons: Export everything writes a spreadsheet with every record, Save a backup writes one file with all of it, and Restore a backup reads that file back on a new phone. The file goes wherever you send it with the phone's own share sheet.

Do it before you change phones or clear space. Uninstalling deletes every record permanently, and there is no copy anywhere else — not with us, because there is no "us" holding anything. Restoring replaces what is on the phone, so the app tells you how many records the backup holds and asks first.

Which permissions does the app ask for?

None. The Android build declares no permission at all — not internet, not the advertising ID, not location, camera or microphone. Internet is worth naming because Android build tooling adds it by default and nearly every app carries it; this one has it removed, which is why "works without signal" is checkable and not just a claim. The text is too small to read in the barn

Settings → Text size has three sizes, and the largest one grows every figure on every screen, not only the labels. Next to it, Appearance switches between the light and the dark theme or follows the phone, and Language offers English, Spanish, French, German, Italian and Portuguese. The app starts in your phone's language if it is one of those six.

A date or a count does not add up

Write to us with the species, what you entered and what the app showed. Every day in the table is traceable to a published extension source, so a wrong figure is something we can check and correct rather than argue about.

Qué guarda Stockbook

Seis especies —gallinas, patos, codornices, cabras, ovejas y conejos—, llevadas por lote con su recuento, su sitio y sus razas, o de una en una con crotal, raza, sexo y fecha de nacimiento. Y encima lo que producen: huevos, leche, carne, lana, miel y fibra; más las fechas de incubación y de gestación de cada tanda y cada monta.

Cómo se cuentan los huevos y cómo se deshace

En la pestaña Hoy, tocar la fila de un lote cuenta un huevo. El total del día está arriba, al lado de la media diaria de los últimos 7 días. Si el toque fue sin querer, Deshacer el último quita la última anotación, y solo la última: así una corrección hecha en otra pantalla no se lleva por delante. La leche, la carne, la lana, la miel y la fibra se anotan con cantidad y decimales en vez de contarse a toques.

Las fechas de incubación y gestación son estimaciones

Metes una tanda de huevos o una monta y la app pone las fechas: miraje, cierre, día de eclosión y retirada de lo que no eclosionó; diagnóstico de gestación, nidal, vigilancia y parto. Los huevos de gallina eclosionan a los 21 días de entrar en la incubadora, los de pato común a los 28 y los de pato criollo a los 35; la codorniz japonesa a los 17 y la americana a los 23. La coneja pare a los 31 días, la cabra sobre los 150 y la oveja sobre los 147. Esos días salen de fuentes de extensión universitaria, y la app dice en pantalla que cada fecha es una estimación: la temperatura mueve una eclosión, y un parto no es una cita fija.

No sale nada del teléfono, y aun así puedes llevártelo

No hay cuenta ni servidor: tus registros viven en el almacenamiento del propio teléfono y no se envían a ningún sitio, y por eso la app funciona en el corral sin cobertura. Eso no te deja atrapado. Ajustes → Tus datos tiene tres botones: Exportar todo escribe una hoja de cálculo con todos tus registros, Guardar una copia escribe un fichero con todo dentro, y Restaurar una copia lo vuelve a leer en un teléfono nuevo. El fichero va a donde tú lo mandes con la hoja de compartir del propio móvil.

Hazlo antes de cambiar de móvil o de hacer sitio. Desinstalar borra todos los registros de forma permanente, y no hay copia en ningún otro lado —tampoco nuestra, porque no hay un «nosotros» guardando nada—. Restaurar sustituye lo que hay en el teléfono, así que la app te dice cuántos registros trae la copia y pregunta antes.

¿Qué permisos pide la app?

Ninguno. La versión de Android no declara ni un permiso: ni internet, ni el identificador de publicidad, ni ubicación, cámara o micrófono. Internet merece nombrarse porque la herramienta de compilación de Android lo añade sola y casi todas las apps lo llevan; esta lo tiene quitado, y por eso «funciona sin cobertura» se puede comprobar en vez de solo prometerse. El detalle está en la política de privacidad.

La letra es muy pequeña para leerla en el establo

Ajustes → Tamaño de letra tiene tres tamaños, y el mayor agranda todas las cifras de todas las pantallas, no solo los rótulos. Al lado, Aspecto cambia entre tema claro y oscuro o sigue al del teléfono, e Idioma ofrece inglés, español, francés, alemán, italiano y portugués. La app arranca en el idioma del teléfono si es uno de esos seis.

Una fecha o una cuenta no cuadran

Escríbenos con la especie, lo que anotaste y lo que enseñó la app. Cada día de la tabla se puede rastrear hasta una fuente de extensión publicada, así que una cifra equivocada es algo que se comprueba y se corrige, no algo que se discute.
